LEESBURG, Fla. --Â On its fourth day in Florida, the Fredonia State softball team dropped a 12-8 game to Skidmore College and a 10-1 contest to Wisconsin-Platteville.Â
Game 1 vs Skidmore
Fredonia State took an early two to nothing lead in the bottom of the first inning withÂ
Emily Chelius singling to drive in two runs. Skidmore went on a run throughout the rest of the game scoring at least one run in the remaining six innings. Going into the bottom of the sixth, Skidmore maintained a five to two lead.Â
The Devils responded big in the sixth scoring six runs with the help of four singles and one double and three errors to take the eight to five lead.Â
Skidmore closed out the game scoring five runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to take the 12-8 victory.Â
Emily Chelius would start for the Devils in game one in and in four innings of action she would surrender five runs off off eight hits. In relief,
Madison Lowe surrendered five runs off five hits.Â
Game 2 vs Wisconsin-Platteville
The Devils dropped their second game of the day, 10-1. After scoring their first run off of an error, Platteville exploded in the second inning scoring seven runs to go up eight to nothing heading into third inning.Â
Mia Woolums lead off for the Devils to start the third and was walked.
Kayla Jo Lynn subbed for Woolums and a sacrifice bunt by Lowe moved Lynn to third. After an error on the catch at third base, Lynn scored the Devils' only run.Â
Jordan Kanick got the start for the Devils pitching. Kanick pitched well, but the victory would go to Taylor Roughen, of Platteville. She tallied four strikeouts, gave up one hit and allowed one run.Â
