Vanessa Galbraith tossed the first no-hitter of her career, as the Fredonia State softball program produced a doubleheader sweep over Ohio Northern and Rutgers Newark on Friday afternoon, recording an 5-4 win in Game 1 before delivering a 5-0 victory in Game 2. Game 1 vs Ohio NorthernÂ
In Game 1, the Devils feel behind 2-0 in the top of the second off a RBI single with the bases loaded and a RBI off a ground out to the short stop from Ashley Lenser. Fredonia State countered in the bottom of the second with a RBI single fromÂ

Following a one run frame at the bottom of the third, the Polar Bears grabbed a 4-2 advantage in the top of the fifth. The Devils erupted in the bottom of the sixth with three runs scored off a RBI single from

Emily Chelius forced a fly out to third base to record the final out of the game. Chelius pitched all seven innings and recorded three strikeouts, scattering ten hits and surrendered four runs.Â
Game 2 vs Rutgers-Newark
In Game 2, Galbraith collected her no-hitter and tallied three strikeouts in 7.0 innings (75 pitches) of work to improve to 3-3 on the season. She faced 24 batters in the contest and forced 13 fly balls.

Erin Cunningham was hit by a pitch to go up one to nothing in the top of the first.Â
Jordan Kanick singled to bring in another Devils run.Â

Courtney Peregosky would single off a bunt and advance to second off of a single fromÂ

Madison Lowe doubled to bring in both runners and push the score to four to zero. Allysa Santiago also had a RBI single before the inning ended.Â
Santiago finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Cunningham and Kanick went 1-for-3 as well.
