MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team fell 14-8 at Allegheny on Wednesday. The Devils were led by
Audrey Brown with three goals and
Emma Cockerel with two goals and two assists.
With Allegheny leading 2-1, the Devils scored five of the next six goals to go up 6-3 at the end of the first quarter following a score by
Leah Kunisch with 1:03 remaining.
Unfortunately for the Devils, the Gators caught fire from there. They scored the next four goals to go up 7-6.
After Brown tied the game a 7-all, the Gators rattled off the next seven goals -- going up 14-7 -- before Brown scored the game's final goal.
Sydney Buchko had six ground balls, five caused turnovers, and eight draw controls for the Devils. Freshman goalkeeper
Ashleigh Manns made six saves and gave up 14 goals.
Sarah Thorman made 10 saves and gave up eight goals for Allegheny. Offensively, Allegheny (1-5) was paced by Lauren Petrarca with six goals and Ema Caragein with four scores.
Next up for the Blue Devils (4-3) is their SUNYAC Opener Saturday at Cortland.
