Pink the Rink game this Saturday

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The 2024 Pink The Rink jerseys to be worn by the Fredonia State men's hockey team will contain the names of every person, couple, or group ever honored at the annual event. The jerseys were purchased in advance and the buyers have dedicated the jersey and made tribute to a loved one by having that loved one's name printed on the back nameplate. All proceeds will go to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event -- begun in 2008 -- surpassed the $100,000 mark in funds raised last year. Saturday, they will exceed the $114,000 mark.

The names will be ghosted in pink on both sides of the white jerseys the Blue Devils will wear when they face the Morrisville Mustangs on Sat., Feb. 3. In addition, during the game there will be many drawings, raffles, and other events held to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The tradition of Pink the Rink began in 2008 and that first year raised $3,800.

The game will also be a pivotal one for the Blue Devils. The Devils are currently one point behind Brockport, who they play at home next weekend, for a playoff spot with five SUNYAC contests remaining. The Devils defeated the Golden Eagles in a conference match up, 4-3, back on Dec. 2.

Prior to Saturday night's game, the Devils will also play host to Post University on Friday with a 7 p.m. start.

Tickets for this Pink the Rink are $7 for adults, $3 for students, and $2 for Fredonia State students with I.D.
