NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team opened the weekend road trip with a 75-60 loss at the hands of New Paltz.
Brandon Kulakowski led all scorers with 22 points and topped the Devils with six points.
Martin Garza and
Kai Woods had eight points apiece. It was the SUNYAC opener for both teams.
The game was tight in the first half, with both teams exchanging leads multiple times. In the closing minutes of the half, Kulakowski converted a layup to put the Devils up, 36-34. New Paltz closed the half with a three pointer and a layup to take a 39-36 lead into the locker room.
New Paltz opened the second frame with the first nine points and a 12-point lead, 48-36. They would maintain the lead the rest of the way.
The Devils travel to Oneonta on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip off as part of a women's-men's doubleheader.
