FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Chatham Cougars defeated Fredonia State 5-3 on Tuesday evening in men's hockey action. The Devils received goals from
Ryan Bailey,
Luke Morris, and
Luca Maiuri.
The game started off with a busy first period with five goals. Michael Rob and Nicholas Babbie staked Chatham to a 2-0 lead. Babbie's goal came on a power play.
Bailey halved the lead on a goal for the Devils with assists from Morris and
Xavier Fortin.
Oscar Saarinen put Chatham up 3-1 at the 15:32 mark. Maiuri scored the final goal of the period with 2:17 on the clock.
Nolan Ring and
Gavin Bloder assisted.
The only goal of the second period was scored by Chatham's Bekk McClaine, giving them a 4-2 lead.
The two teams traded power plays in the third, with Morris scoring at the 9:38 mark for the Devils, and Kyle Contessa scoring for the Cougars.
Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 32 saves for the Devils, giving up five scores. Gino Pichora made 29 stops and surrender three goals for Chatham, now 1-5-1.
The Devils (2-7) head to the Skidmore Tournament this Saturday and Sunday.
