OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Lucas Maiuri scored his first collegiate goal, but it would be the only offense Fredonia State would muster in a 4-1 loss to Oswego on Saturday.
The Devils drew first blood when Maiuri beat Oswego goaltender Brandon Millberg just past the midpoint of the first half. He was assisted by
Peter Buerfent.
Oswego answered with four minutes left in the first to even the score at one apiece.
The Lakers scored the only goal of the second period on a power play by Justin Ryan to take a 2-1 lead. The Lakers would go 1-5 on power plays, and the Devils went 0-4.
The score remained that way until late in the third. With 5:11 left to play, Oswego scored its third goal by Matt McQuade. They tacked on an insurance score with 2:38 left to play as Andrew Harley connected unassisted.
Jameson Kaine made 34 saves in net for the Devils. Millberg was credited with 21 stops.
The Devils are back in Steele Hall Ice Arena on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. puck drop vs. Chatham.
