BOXSCORE BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Fredonia State women's tennis team rallied to win the final three singles matches Friday to defeat the Dragons of Oneonta 4-3 at the Binghamton tennis center.
Fredonia State claimed the first doubles match by virtue of a 6-4 victory in the No. 1 flight by the tandem of
Bernadette Gens and
Lucy Prevet but fell in the No. 2 flight to the tandem of Taylor Plue and Kelly Hayes. The Devils pairing of
Gabriella Farr and
Claire LeFevre battled hard at No. 2 doubles but came up just short 6-3, while
Sophia Olson and
Sierra Allen lost 6-4 at No. 3 doubles. At the conclusion of doubles play, the point went to the Dragons.
The Devils rally began with Prevet winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Fredonia State evened the score at 3-3 after LeFevre picked up a win over Annika Cripe and Olson grinded out a 6-0, 6-7, 6-4 victory over Kyra Murrary.
The match ended up coming down to No. 6 singles, where Allen battled to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Murrary to give the Devils the victory.
Fredonia State next plays Plattsburgh State on Saturday for a 9 a.m. match against the Cardinals.
