FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's soccer team entered Tuesday evening's game coming off a 9-0 win on Saturday, and continued their offensive onslaught, winning 9-0 over Hilbert. The Devils now have 33 goals on the season.
Gabby Irwin struck twice early to get things rolling. Her first score came in the third minute following a nice save by Hilbert goalie, Keira McFarland. Irwin collected the rebound all alone and tapped it in for a 1-0 lead.
Just under a minute later, Irwin took a pass from Maddy Payne to make it 2-0.
The third goal was nearly a repeat of the first goal, but with a different scorer.
Katie Sellers was the beneficiary of a save-and-rebound opportunity and hammered home a shot from short range.
Grace Mackey assisted.
The fourth goal came following a corner kick. Auer passed it short to Kerrigan Driscoll who circled her defender and made a perfect pass to Mackey in front of the net for the score.
The half ended with a diving save by Hilbert's McFarland off a penalty kick by Driskell and the Devils leading 4-0.
Payne added a goal on the 52nd minute, drilling home a rebound off a shot by Sellers, who took the assist. Sellers followed that up with a header in the 60th minute to make it a 6-0 game.
Kayla Lynn added her first collegiate goal,
Bronwyn Madden -- who was named the SUNYAC Athlete of the Week on Monday -- scored her fourth goal in two games, and
Claire McManus added a score.
In addition to leading the SUNYAC with 33 goals, three members of the team lead the conference in offensive categories. Irwin has 18 points, Sellers is tops with seven goals, and Payne has eight assists.
Abby Szymkowiak was credited with a shutout without facing any shots on goal.
McFarland played admirably in goal for the Hawks, making 14 saves, including several outstanding stops, one diving on a penalty kick. Hailey Kuder played the second half for Hilbert.
The Devils head to New Paltz on Friday for a SUNYAC contest.
