PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped a 61-53 road game to the Cardinals of Plattsburgh on Friday evening.
Allie Wandell had her first double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Renee Park added 16 points and four steals.
The teams battled to a tie at the half with the score knotted at 29-all.
Plattsburgh scored the first five points of the second half and would lead for the balance of the game.
A pair of free throws put the Cardinals up 46-36 in the final minute of the third, which would be their biggest lead of the game.
The Devils made it a two-point game midway through the fourth. A pair of free throws and a layup by
Payton Gilbert made it 52-50 with 5:31 left to play, but Plattsburgh would hang on for the victory.
Plattsburgh (4-5 and 1-2 SUNYAC) was led by Imani Walcott with 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Payton Couture with19 and 12.
The Blue Devils (6-3 and 1-1 SUNYAC) head to Potsdam for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday.
