BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- A pair of second-half pushes twice brought the Devils with in one point, but they could not overtake Brockport in a 78-71 loss on Tuesday.
Allie Wandell led the Devils with a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds, and
Grace Alexander added 19 points.
Early on, the Devils took control. Following a three-point play by Alexander, the Devils would go up, 9-5. An ensuing 6-0 run put Brockport on top, 11-9. The Devils trailed by a point, 20-19, before a three pointer and a layup put Brockport up 25-19 to end a busy first quarter.

Sarah Seaman wrapped up the half with Brockport up, 41-34.
The Devils opened the third quarter by scoring the first six points, cutting Brockport's lead to one point, 41-40. Brockport would go back up by seven, 49-42, when the Devils finished the third outscoring Brockport 8-2, leaving the Golden Eagles clinging to a 51-50 lead.
Partway through the fourth, Brockport seemingly took control of the game, 71-56, with 1:39 left to play. The Devils then exploded for 15 points over the next 1:14 as part of a 15-5 run to cut the lead to 76-71. Brockport would score the final basket as time ran out to give the final.
Kyla Smith and
Payton Gilbert each added 10 points for the Devils.
Mary Culeton had five assists.
Zairea Harrah led Brockport with 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Mandy Brink also had 16 points.
Brockport improves to 8-7 and 4-4 in the SUNYAC.
The Devils (7-6 / 2-4 SUNYAC ) return home this weekend with games against Cortland and Oswego on Friday and Saturday.
