FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team ran into the red-hot Red Devils of Cortland on Saturday, and were unable to gain any momentum, falling 7-0. The Devils out shot the Dragons, 25-4.
The Devils kept things pretty even in the first half. Cortland broke through in the 33rd minute, and again in the 40th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Five more second-half goals spelled doom for the Devils.
Cortland got two goals from both Mateo Marra and Muiz Bayewu. The Devils used three goaltenders with
Tanner Stutzman stopping six shots and giving up six goals,
Kyle Pezzulo giving up one goal and saving one, and
Thomas McDonald played 9:23 without seeing a shot.
The Devils fall to 4-2-3 overall and 0-2 in the SUNYAC. Cortland, ranked No. 24 in the most recent NCAA poll, improves to 7-1-1 and 1-0 in the conference.
