HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's soccer team put on a scoring clinic en route to a 8-1 victory on the road against Hilbert. "It was nice to see our team find the back of the net," noted head coach
Chris Case. "We have been creating a lot of chances in games but have not been completing those chances consistently."Â
The Devils waisted no time getting to work with
Katie Sellers scoring the teams first goal in the games first five minutes.Â
Bronwyn Madden would push the Devils lead to two off an assist from
Haley Drinon. Before the end of the first half Drinon would find Brianna Grazen for another Fredonia State goal to go into halftime up 3-0 on the Hawks.Â
To start the second, Hilbert would respond with a goal from Hannah Brock to cut the Devil lead to just two. However, Fredonia would respond quickly with Brianna Grazen scoring here second goal of the night eight minutes later. From there the Devils would continue to stay on the offensive with
Grace Mackey finding the back of the net three minutes later to go up 5-1.Â
The Devils would cruise the rest of the way with players
Alex Hultberg and
Kayla Jo Lynn scoring their first career goals for Fredonia State. Talia Defay would add one goal well. Goalkeeper Abby Szymowiak would finish the night with four saves with Fredonia State out shooting the Hawks by margin of 33 registering 41 shots with 25 shots on goal.Â
"Today we were able to find scoring from a good variety of people, which was nice," added Case.
Fredonia State will look to ride the momentum from tonight into conference play as they host Geneseo Wednesday, September 20th at 4:00 PM.Â
