Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DeFay scores game-tying goal

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- After trailing much of the game, Talia DeFay scored in the 75th minute to tie the game at 1-all as the Fredonia State women's soccer team played Alfred University to a draw on Tuesday evening.

Alfred had scored in the 32nd minute of the first half when the Saxon's Julia Flaitz broke the scoreless tie.

Alfred would take the lead into the half despite being out shot by Fredonia State, 11-6.

The Devils would largly control play in the second half, out shooting Alfred 15-3 in that frame. DeFay eventually got the Devil offense on the board with an assist from Grace Auer.

However, the Devils could not quite solve Alfred goaltender Kiani Barnard-Pratt who made several spectacular saves and was credited with 16 stops for the game.

The Devils had a few golden opportunities late. Katie Sellers gathered a loose ball, but her shot was stopped by a sliding kick save by Barnard-Pratt. A few minutes later, Gabby Irwin had a good look with some space, but rocketed the ball just over the crossbar.

Dani Rubino made four saves in goal for the Devils. Fredonia State now stands at 2-2-1 on the season, while Alfred is now 1-3-1.
