FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team ran into red-hot Cortland on Friday, and came up on the short end of a 17-3 contest to the No. 21 ranked Red Dragons. Erin Woods, Julie Culver, and Sydney Buchko accounted for the Devils' goals.

Cortland (8-3) scored just inside the first minute of the game, and would finish the first quarter in a flurry. They scored five times over the final 4:41 to take a 6-0 lead. They opened up a 12-0 lead at the half.

Woods scored her 41st goal of the season at the 10:58 mark of the third quarter, making it a 13-1 game.

After a Cortland score, Culver scored her 32nd goal of the season as Cortland led, 14-2. Buchko capped the scoring for the game, connecting on her 21st goal with 1:02 on the clock.

Emily Carr had a busy night in goal, making 20 saves.

The Devils (5-8) travel to Western New York rival Buffalo State on Wednesday to in a Battle by the Lake matchup.
