Oneonta, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Blue Devils baseball team fell at Oneonta today by a final score of 12-5.Ā
The Devils would get things started at the top of the second after
Tyler Curtis was walked and after a quick fly out to right field
Alex Gannon would hit a double to advance Curtis to third.
AJ Roach next up to bat would ground out but Curtis would manage to score for the games first run of the day. Oneonta would even up the score at the bottom of the second 1-1 going into the third.Ā
At the top of the third,
Brady Ventura would single to left field to get on base and advance to second off of a failed pick off attempt.
Garrett StuckeyĀ would strike out looking but Ventura would steal third. After another failed pick off attempt Ventura would score the unearned run to put the Devils up 2-1.Ā
Oneonta would use the next three innings to score seven straight runs build up a a 8-2 lead. At the top of the eighth and with two on, Curtis would drive the ball up center field to bring in two runs for the Devils.
Again, Oneonta would respond with another big inning scoring four runs to push their lead to eight. The Devils would only score one run in the ninth as the Red Dragons would cruise to the 12-5 victory.Ā
Fredonia State was lead by Curtis who would finish the game going 1-4 with one run amd two RBIs. Ventura would add two runs while going 2-4. Pitcher
Derrick Walters would get the call for the Devils and would pitch four innings and finish with three runs, four hits, two errors and two strikeouts.Ā
The Devils will return to the diamond April 25th on the road for a single game schedule at Houghton University with the game scheduled for 6:00 P.M.Ā
