GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State baseball team exploded for a season-high in runs with a 20-7 victory at Thiel College on Tuesday. They had 12 hits in the seven-inning contest, and used three Tomcate errors, nine walks, and four hit batters to aid in their scoring barrage.
Garrett Stuckey led the team with three hits and four RBI.
Alex Gannon and
Nicholas Barberio each drove in three runs, while
Brady Ventura and
Tucker Schwab had two hits apiece.
The Devils used six pitchers for the mid-week non-conference game.
Morgan Zientara started and threw two scoreless innings for his second win of the year.
Nick Syposs and
Ryan Martin each tossed a scoreless inning.
The Devils wasted no time in jumping out to the lead. Ventura singled and Gannon walked. Stuckey and
Tyler Curtis hit back-to-back doubles to put the Devils up 3-0. A sacrifice fly from Schwab gave the Devils a 4-0 lead at the end of a half inning. By the end of four-and-a-half innings, they had built a 14-0 lead.
Thiel scored three in the fifth, and a pair runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but never really threatened.Â
The Devils will be back on the field this Friday and Saturday when they take on Brockport in a three-game series.
