ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team remains undefeated through its first three games as they picked up an impressive 20-8 victory at Alfred University Wednesday night.
Camryn Jacobs would lead Fredonia State with five goals,
Erin Woods added four, and
Julie Culver had three.
Noelle Mendez and
Sydney Buchko would each score twice.
Alfred would jump out to a 3-2 lead after scoring with four minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Blue Devils would go on to tie the game early in the second off a Jacobs score 1:06 into the frame. The Devils would follow that with three more goals to go up 6-3.
Following a Saxon's score, the Devils scored the next three to take a 9-4 lead with just under seven minutes remaining in the half.
After the Saxons scored their fifth goal, the Blue Devils would go on a tear, scoring eight-strait goals from the middle of the second quarter through the five-minute mark of the third to push their lead to 17-5.
Fredonia State would coast from there, maintaining a 10-plus goal lead throughout the remainder of the contest.
Buchko would lead the Devils with two assists, six ground balls, and a game-high 20 draw controls.
Fredonia State out shot the Saxons 38-15.
Emily Carr made two saves in goal for the Devils, while Alyssa Piechota stopped 15 shots.
Next up Fredonia State (3-0) will host its first home game of the season. They will face Allegheny College Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m.
