GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team scored the game's first three goals, and would go up 7-1 midway through the second quarter en route to a dominating 20-11 victory over Thiel College on Saturday.
Erin Woods was a force on offense with eight goals, and
Julie Culver added five scores for the Devils.
Emily Carr made 17 saves in goal.
Camryn Jacobs and
Sydney Buchko added two goals apiece, and
Cailin Karalus,
Noelle Mendez, and
Audrey Brown each added a score. Culver led the team with four assists, and had three helpers.
Erin Woods opened the scoring inside the first minute, and the Devils built a 4-1 lead at thee end of the first quarter. The Devils scored the next four goals -- including a pair from Culver -- to extend the lead to 7-1. The Devils led 11-4 by the half.
Buchko and
Sarah Guariglia led the Devils with four ground balls apiece. Buchko also had a team-high six draw controls.
Next up for the Devils (2-0) is their third-straight road contest. They take on Alfred University Wednesday, March 1 at 4 p.m.
