POTSDAM N.Y. -- The
Fredonia State Blue Devils fell at Potsdam by score of 69-59.Â
Laurell Brown would lead
Fredonia State in scoring with 17 points and four rebounds.
Amber Louis would chip in 15 points shooting four of five from deep while dishing out a team high three assists. Marry
Culeton added six rebounds.
At the opening tip, the Blue Devils were aggressive on offense with a driving lay up by
Laurell Brown to put
Fredonia on the score board. A pair of made free through attempts by Brown and Allie
Wandell would allow the Blue Devils to draw within three points of the Bears early on. Potsdam would capitalize off a
Fredonia turn over to score a quick bucket in transition to go up by seven. After a media timeout,
Amber Louis would heat up on offense snagging a offensive rebound and sinking two triples and one free throw. The first would end with the Blue Devils trailing 19-13.
The start of the second was all
Fredonia State as the Devils would rattle off seven straight points capped off by another three from Louis to take their first lead of the game 20-19. The Bears regained the lead at the half with a score of 34-29 .Â
To open the third,
Fredonia State would go on a 6-0 run to draw within one point off of a layup from Brown and steal from
Kyla Smith leading to a score from Louis on the other end.
The Bears would respond with a 13-2 run to build some separation. The Blue Devils would trail at the end of the third quarter 54-43.Â
Fredonia State would mount a small comeback down the stretch out scoring Potsdam 9-4Â in the final five minutes, but would fall ten points short in the end.
Potsdam's
Jakia Howard would score a game 18 points and grab nine rebounds. Mandy
Barnell,
Xy'El Bradford and
Dyamon Hunter all scored in double figures as well.Â
The Blue Devils fall to 5-16 overall and 2-14 in the
SUNYAC. They will play a pair of home games to close out the season against
Geneseo and Oswego next weekend.Â
