Devils fall to Geneseo

FREDONIA, N.Y.  –  The Fredonia State women's basketball team lost to the SUNY Geneseo Knights on Friday by a score of 77-47. Laurell Brown would lead the Blue Devils in scoring with 14 points. Amber Lewis and Alena Wright would each add six points as well. Caitlin Snyder and Mary Culeton would grab four rebounds each.

Geneseo was lead by Lauren Romito, who would finish the night with a game high 27 points and 16 rebounds. Hannah Stockman would add 17 points. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter would favor the Knights with Geneseo opening on a 5-0 run before lay up by Brown would put the Devils on the board. A three pointer by Lewis would draw the Devils within three early.

Geneseo closed the first on a 14-4 run until a three by Sarah Seaman in the final six seconds would cut the Knight lead to single digits, 23-14 score. Points in the paint and free throws would prove to be the difference maker in the in the first half as the as the Knights scored 22 points down low and 13 from the line to go into the half up 21 points 44-23. 

Defense for both sides would dig in throughout the third with Fredonia State winning the third quarter by one point.  Stockman for Geneseo and Jaden Sciotti would exchange three pointers in final 2:30 of play before Seaman would cap off the third with another triple to bring the score to 57-35 Geneseo. 

The Knights would continue to push their throughout the fourth quarter as Stockwell hit her third three pointer of the second half with five minutes to play. Brown for Fredonia would hit two consecutive buckets but in the end Geneseo proved to be to much 

The Devils wrap up their season on Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest vs. Oswego.
