FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's hockey team had 33 shots on goal, but could only produce one score in a 3-1 loss to Potsdam on Friday. Freshman
Antoine St. Onge continued to produce offensively with the Devils' lone score. It was his fifth goal in the past seven games.
Potsdam scored twice in the first period. At the 6:36 mark, Michael Olszewski scored after the Blue Devils turned the puck over. Jack McCandless assisted.
Michael Campbell scored at 13:34 when he beat Fredonia State's
Logan Dyck who was screened from the shot to make it 2-0. Tyler Lisieski assisted.
The second period was scoreless, with Dyck making nine saves and Potsdam's Lenny Perno making 17 saves.
St. Onge put the Devils on the board 2:27 into the third period with assists from fellow freshmen
Dillon Schmidt -- his team-leading sixth assist of the year -- and
Xavier Fortin. Fortin has three points in the last two games.
Potsdam regained a two-goal lead when Olszewski picked up a rebound after a save by Dyck and drove it home for the score.
Both teams were 0-2 on power plays.
For the game, Dyck made 26 saves and Potsdam's Perno made 32. Potsdam picks up its first SUNYAC win and is now 1-6, and 2-9 overall.
The Devils fall to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in SUNYAC play.
The Devils take on Plattsburgh tomorrow in Steele Hall. Puck drop is slated for a 4 p.m. matinee.
