GENEVA, N.Y. --
Baxter Kimball scored his third goal in as many games to stake the Fredonia State hockey team to a 1-0 lead, but the Devils would eventually fall at Hobart, 3-1. One goal or less separated the teams the entire game until the final minute when Hobart used an empty netter to get the two-score advantage.
Goaltender
Charles-Anthony Barbeau turned in another stellar game with his third-consecutive 40+ save effort, accounting for 42 stops while giving up just two scores.
Kimball scored the only goal of the first period just 27 seconds in.
Joe Santoro and
Dillon Schmidt assisted.
That would hold up until 2:26 into the second period when Hobart's Chris Duclair tied the game at 1-all. With 2:49 left in the period, the Statesmen got their second score of the night and first lead of the game on a goal from Tanner Hartman.
No more goals were scored until the final minute of the game when Kevin Lassman scored with Barbeau on the bench with 40 ticks left..
Graham Burke made 14 saves for Hobart.
Both teams went 0-1 on the power play, with on two penalties called the entire game.
The Statesmen -- currently ranked No. 3 and the defending National Champions -- improve to 6-2-0.
The Devils (2-6-0) are back on the ice Dec. 1 at Geneseo.
