Second-straight road win for Devils

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- Joe Santoro wasted no time in getting the Fredonia State hockey team on the scoreboard, connecting on his first shift of the night at the 2:17 mark and the Devils would lead 3-0 before eventually claiming a 5-2 victory at Morrisville State on Wednesday. The Devils are coming off a 4-1 win at Buffalo State and recorded their second-straight SUNYAC road victory.

The Devils second goal came when freshman Antoine St. Onge scored his third goal of the season nine minutes into the second period.

The Mustangs were whistled for a tripping penalty midway through the second. David Sudbrink would make them pay on the power play with an assist from Nicholas Newman.

Newman followed with a goal of his own at the 15:41 mark to put the Devils up 4-0.

Morrisville State finally solved golatender Charles-Anthony Barbeau, getting on the board with a power play with just under three minutes left in the second period. Barbeau had 21 saves through two periods of play. Garrett Boyonoski started in goal and made 24 saves and gave up four goals before yielding to Ryan Creenan for the third period.

Morrisville State would halve the lead, 4-2, at the 12:25 mark of the third on a score by Steve Gerbis. The Devils would answer with Newman's second goal of the night three minutes later to go up 5-2. 

Morrisville State tacked on a goal in the final minutes to give the final score.

Barbeau finished with 42 saves, while Creenen stopped seven shots in the third for the Mustangs.

The game was relatively penalty free -- the Devils going 1-2 on the power play, and the Mustangs went 1-4. The'Stangs fall to 1-5-0 overall, and 1-4-0 in the SUNYAC.

The Devils (2-5-0/2-3-0 SUNYAC) meet the defending Division III National Champs Hobart College on on Saturday in a non-conference tilt.
