PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team lost 17-15 in the final set of the day, and fell to Plattsburgh, 3-2, on Saturday. Ut was the final SUNYAC contest of the 2023 season.
After dropping the first set, 25-22, the Devils rebounded and trounced the Cardinals 25-16 in the next set. Plattsburgh gained the lead with a 25-17 win, the the Devils took the fourth set, 25-19.
The Devils were up 13-12 late in the fifth set. Plattsburgh scored three of the next four points to go up 15-14 before an attack error by the Cardinals tied things at 15-all. Plattsburgh closed out the set and match with the final two points.
The Devils had three players in double digits in kills --
Erin Callahan (13),
Gabrielle Sordetto (12), and
Kylie O'Brien (10). The Devils also continued their success at the service line with 16 aces.
Sasha Zayatz had five, and Sordetto had four.
Molly Cassidy paced the offense with 38 assists.
Defensively, Callahan had three blocks, and
Elora Sherman had 23 digs.
The Devils (4-18 / 2-7 SUNYAC) travel to HIlbert on Wednesday.
