ANGOLA, Indiana -- Trine's Chace McCardle scored 2:09 into the game, and that would prove to be enough as the Thunder downed the Fredonia State men's hockey team, 3-0, on Saturday.
The game would remain 1-0 until the 11:04 mark of the third when Trine added an insurance goal. An empty netter late in the third gave the final score. Sam Antenucci scored two goals for the Thunder.
In a relatively penalty-free game, the Devils were 0-3 on power plays, and Trine was 0-1. Trine out shot the Devils, 37-21, and had a 32-26 edge in faceoffs.
Logan Dyck was credited with 34 saves in goal for the Devils. Kyle Kozma made 21 stops for the Thunder.
The Devils open up SUNYAC play at Oswego and Cortland next weekend.
