ANGOLA, IN -- The Fredonia State men's hockey opened their 2023-2024 season on the road against Trine on Friday. The devils showed a lot of promise on the ice but would ultimately fall to Trine by a final score of 3-6.
Johnny Malandruccolo would find the back of the net in the game's opening minute to give Fredonia State the early lead. Trine would would go on the power play and would tie the game back up off the stick of Keiton Klein. Trine would strike again in the first period with a short hand goal by Michael DiPietra to go up 2-1 on the Devils.
Throughout the second period Trine would continue to add to their lead with three more unanswered goals from Josh Wright, Jackson Clarck and Bobby Price to go into the final period leading 5-1.
Klien would score his second goal of the night to push the lead the five. The devils would mount a small comeback midway through the final period with Senior
David Sudbrink scoring 2 straight goals but unfortunately that would not be enough for the Devils as the final score would read 6-3 in favor of Trine.
Fredonia State will look to rebound tomorrow as they will their second game against Trine Saturday, October 28th at 4:00 PM.
