CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped an 85-63 game at Cortland on Friday evening.
Renee Park led the Devils with 12 points, and
Amber Louis added 11.
Alena Wright topped the Devils with seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Fredonia State came off a 26-day break and showed no signs of rust. They broke out to an early 7-2 lead. Cortland battled back and would take a 13-12 lead, their first of the game.
The Devils responded with back-to-back threes from Culeton and Park, to regain momentum. They would lead 20-15 after the first quarter.Â
Cortland would tie the game at 32 by the half.
Allie Wandell led the Devils with eight points on 4-5 shooting, and Park added seven points, going 3-5 from the floor. Casey Travers and Sarah Tully paced the hosts with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Cortland stepped things up in the second half. They outscored the Devils 30-16 in the third quarter, and scored the first eight points of the fourth to put the game away.
Cortland was paced by Nyia Longford with 17 points -- one of five Dragons to score in double digits. Emily Morano finished with a double-double, going for 16 points and 11 rebounds.Â
The Devils fall to 3-9 and 0-7 in the SUNYAC. Cortland maintains the top spot in the conference with a 6-0 mark in the league and 10-2 overall.
The Blue Devils travel to Brockport for a 2 p.m. tipoff on Saturday.
