FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team fell 73-64 to Potsdam on Friday. The Devils held a one-point lead midway through the second half, but the Bears pulled away late, thanks in part to their production at the free-throw line. They shot 18-28 from the line compared to 7-8 for the Devils.
AJ Knight led Fredonia State with 24 points and
Jacob Hougan chipped in 12.
The first half went back and forth with 12 lead changes. The Bears clung to a 36-32 lead at the break.
They would hold the lead until a three by Knight tied the game a 46-all with thirteen-and-a-half minutes left. Knight's bucket on the next possession gave the Devils a 48-46 lead. There would be five more lead changes before Potsdam took the lead for good, 57-56, with just over nine minutes on the clock.
Colton Huestis led the Bears with 19 points, one of five players in double-digits.
The Devils are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 4 p.m. start vs. Plattsburgh in Dods Hall.
