Steward goal leads to tie

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Kaleb Steward scored the game-tying goal midway through the second half as the Fredonia State and Geneseo men's soccer teams battled to a 1-1 tie at University Field on Wednesday.

The Knights scored the only goal of the first half off the foot of Liam Mulderig in the 12th minute. It was his fourth goal of the season.

Fredonia State's Tanner Stutzman made four saves in the half. Will Price had one save for Geneseo as the Devils had one shot on goal.

Steward scored the equalizer in the 68th minute. He charged a loose ball and beat Price tapping it past the Knight's netminder for his second goal this season.

"Gutsy effort to comeback," said head coach PJ Gondek. "Our second half is what we need to bottle up so we can go back to it. Very proud of the boys."

Geneseo threatened a couple times in the 93rd minute, but Stutzman and the defense made a pair of nice stops with aggressive play in the box. He made six second-half saves, giving him 10 for the game

The Devils are now 1-5-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo moves to 6-3-1, and 0-1-1 in the conference.

The Devils head to Cortland on Saturday in a key SUNYAC matchup.
