Devils stopped by Hawks

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 road match to the red-hot New Paltz Hawks on Saturday. The Hawks used a first half goal, and a pair of second-half goals to improve to 6-1-1 and up its SUNYAC mark to 2-0.

The Devils fall to 2-4-2 and 0-2 in the conference.

New Paltz outshot the Devils 23-4, and had a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal. Katie Sellers had two shots on goal for Fredonia State.

Rachel Eisert got the Hawks on the board two-and-a-half minutes into the match.

The game would remain a 1-0 Hawks advantage until early in the second half. New Paltz scored a pair of goals 29 seconds apart in the 47th minute of the game. Eisert and Gaby Treble were credited with the scores. 

In net for the Devils, Sabrina Suriani made nine saves and gave up three goals in 75 minutes of work. Dani Rubino made two saves in the final 15 minutes of play.

Maddie Franklin made four saves in earning the shutout for the Hawks. 

The Devils travel to SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday for their third-straight SUNYAC road game.
