BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Women's Tennis team fell to SUNY Brockport, 8-1, on Saturday evening. This loss drops the blue Devils record to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC.
In singles,
Violet Hess took down Lena Paolicelli in three sets, to give Fredonia State their only win as a team. In the first set, Gentile won 6-2 and then tied 6-6 in the second set. Hess was able to come back strong in the third set, winning 10-3. This was her first victory of the season.
Other contributors in the singles matches consisted of;
Caitlin Snyder won four games (2-6, 2-7),
Bella Surma won one game (1-6, 0-6),
Brianna Gentile won two games (1-6, 1-6),
Lexi Hawley won five games (2-6, 3-6), andÂ
T'Kaia Parker won three games (2-6, 1-6).
The Devils fell short in all three doubles. Surma and Snyder were unable to get the victory as they fell 5-8, in a very close battle. Gentile and Hess fell 2-8, while Parker and Hawley lost 0-8.
The team is back in action on Friday against Penn State Behrend.
