BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. --- Fredonia State Women's Soccer team hosted Allegheny college in a 6:30 PM matchup, on Tuesday night. The Blue Devils took down the Gators with a final score of 2-0, improving their record to 2-2-1.
The first half was very stagnant for both offenses, as they were unable to obtain many scoring opportunities.Â
With 8:22 left in the first half, Fredonia State was fouled in the box and were awarded a penalty kick. Senior midfielder,
Jordan Barrett, stepped up to the PK line and recorded the Devils first goal of the game. Barrett stutter stepped up to the line, faked a shot right and delivered a blistering kick to the top left of the net.
The Blue Devils held their 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half, while outshooting Allegheny 8-4. The Devils had a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal, while having the only 3 corner kick opportunities.
Dani Rubino came in for senior goaltender,
Sabrina Suriani, to control the second half of play for the Blue Devils. Suriani had two saves in 45 minutes of action.Â
The Devils came out extremely aggressive, scoring in under two minutes of the second half. Fredonia State moved the ball up the field with one touch passes, until
Bri Grazen was able to find
Jules Monlea cutting in between the defenders. Monlea controlled the pass and found the bottom left corner, to give the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead.
Fredonia State held onto their 2-0 lead for the remainder of the game. In total, the Blue Devils outshot the Gators 22-8, with a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Bubino recorded two saves within the last 45 minutes of play.
Fredonia State travels to Rochester, N.Y on Saturday, for a 2:00 pm matchup against St. John Fisher.
