ERIE, PA. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team took on Washington and Jefferson College and Grove City on Day 2 of the Penn State Behrend Volleyball invitational on Saturday. They fell to both squads by 3-1 scores, dropping their season record to 0-7.

The Presidents took the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17 before the Devils broke through with a 25-23 victory in the third set. W & J regained the momentum to take the third set, 25-19.

Gabrielle Sordetto led the team with 16 kills and Erin Callahan had 10. The offense was aided by five aces from Elora Sherman and 30 assists from Kourtney Krchniak. 

Defensively, Krchniak and Gabrielle Chilcott collected 12 digs apiece.

Against Grove City, the Devils fell by set scores of 25-11, 25-16, 17-25, and 25-15. The team featured a balanced attack on offense with Chilcott collecting 16 kills, Sordetto with nine, and Callahan with eight.

Krchniak topped the Devils in assists (31), blocks (20), and aces (2). Sherman had 21 digs.

The team travels to the Allegheny College Classic next weekend.
