ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State softball team dropped a pair of games to Alfred University on Tuesday. They fell 10-1 and 8-0.
Game 1
The Devils gave up five runs in the first inning, and made four errors for the game, making it tough to come back.
Maria Caviris had a hit and walk in two plate appearances in the five-inning contest.
Amber Piniewski,
Allie Wandell, and
Marisa Sultana also collected hits for the Devils.
Vanessa Galbraith, one of three pitchers used, took the loss for the Devils. Only four of the 10 runs surrendered were earned.
Game 2
The Devils matched their offensive output with four hits in the second game. Wandell,
Megan Guidry,
Alexis Wulf, and
Amaya Lewczyk each had singles.
Erin Cunningham went the distance in the circle, taking the loss. She struck out two and walked two, while surrendering 10 hits.
The Devils fall to 6-14 overall. Alfred improves to 9-8.
The Devils head to New Paltz and Oneonta this weekend.
