NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- After a narrow 1-0 loss in Game one thanks to a strong outing from
Emily Chelius, the Devils dropped Game 2 10-0. Chelius scattered two hits and would lose on an unearned run in extra innings.
Game 1
After Chelius recorded to first two outs, New Paltz used a walk, single, and error to produce the game's only run.Â
The Devils had seven hits -- three by
Alyssa Piniewski and two by
Amber Piniewski -- but could not manage a run.Â
The Devils just missed a scoring opportunity in the top of the sixth. After one-out singles by the Piniewski sisters, Chelius struck out for the second out.
Nicole Kumro delivered a base hit, but
Alyssa Piniewski was thrown out at the plate by the left fielder to end the inning.
Game 2
New Paltz scored four in the first, two in the second, three in the third, and one in the fourth to take Game 2.
Fredonia State had five hits.
Alyssa Piniewski and
Nicole Kumro had two apiece.
The Devils are now 6-16 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC. New Paltz ups its record to 17-9 and 4-2 in the conference.
Fredonia State travels to Oneonta tomorrow for another SUNYAC doubeheader.
