ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The University of Rochester defeated the Fredonia State softball team twice on Tuesday. They took Game 1 by a 7-0 score, and completed the sweep with an 11-2 win in the second game.
Game 1
The Devils were held to two hits, with
Alyssa Santiago and
Nicole Kumro each collecting singles.
Vanessa Galbraith (3-6) went the distance in the circle, allowing seven runs, four earned, walking nine and striking out five. Four errors lead to three unearned runs.Â
Game 2
Rochester took a 10-0 lead over the first two innings before the Devils got on the board.
Allie Wandell singled to start the inning.Â
Megan Guidry singled, but Wandell was cut down trying to go to third.Â
Alexis Wulf doubled and brought in Wandell for the first run. Wulf stole third and came in on a ground out by
Hannah Mezzoprete.Â
Wandell had two of the Devils' five hits. Starting pitcher
Erin Cunningham (1-2) took the loss. Galbraith went the final 3 1/3 innings.
Fredonia State falls to 11-23, and Rochester improves to 20-12
The Devils play host to Plattsburgh and Potsdam this weekend to wrap up the regular season with a SUNYAC playoff berth on the line
