FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State softball team lost a pair of road games at Geneseo. They dropped the opener, 4-3, and where shutout, 8-0, in the nightcap.
Game 1
Allie Wandell led off the game with a base hit. After a sacrifice bunt,
Amber Piniewski drove her in on a base hit.
Fredonia maintained the lead until the bottom of the fourth when a leadoff triple and one-out double would result in a run for the Knights.
Geneseo added a run in the fifth. A one-out triple, two walks, and a single made it 2-1. Pitcher
Emily Chelius got the next to batters to pop up with the bases loaded to prevent further damage.
The Devils rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.
Nicole Kumro doubled home
Alyssa Piniewski, and Chelius singled in
Megan Guidry.Â
Geneseo fought back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Geneseo used three doubles to plate the runs.
Chelius tossed a complete game, going six innings, surrendering nine hits and striking out three.
Game 2
The Devils mustered just four hits as Geneseo took Game 2.
Amber Piniewski,
Erin Cunningham,
Alexis Wulf, and
Alyssa Santiago each had a single.
Geneseo improved to 24-3.
The Devils (11-20) head to Rochester on Tuesday for a doubleheader.
