BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State softball team ran its win streak to four games with a sweep of Brockport on Friday. They took Game 1 by a 5-3 score, and rolled to a 12-4 win in Game 2.

Game 1
Emily Chelius went the distance in the circle for her seventh win of the season. She scattered four hits, walked none, and struck out nine. She allowed just a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

Offensively, the Devils plated three in the third inning. A single by Evelyn Webster, sacrifice bunt, and wild pitch put a runner at third. Allie Wandell singled home Webster. A flyout accounted for the second out. Amber Piniewski then reached on an error by the shortstop, scoring Wandell. Nicole Kumro reached on an error by the left fielder to score Piniewski, giving the Devils a three-run lead at the time.

Brockport made it 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth. An error, bunt single, and base hit to right field to start the inning for the Eagles made it a 3-1 game. Another bunt single brought in the second run. Chelius then got the next three hitters in order to end the inning.

Back-to-back doubles in the top of the fifth by Victoria Pauwels and Wandell upped the Devils' lead to 4-2. 

Kumro drove in an insurance run in the seventh.

Game 2
Seven runs in the first inning helped the Devils cruise to victory. A Grand Slam by Alexis Wulf highlighted the inning. The Devils had five hits and a pair of walks in the frame.

They would strike again in the fifth with five runs to mercy the Eagles. Erin Cunningham and Alyssa Piniewski both drove in a pair of runs, and Webster drove in another.

Three pitchers worked for the Devils. Chelius was pulled after a scoreless first. Vanessa Galbraith tossed 1 2/3  innings giving up three runs, and Cunningham tossed the final 2 1/3, allowing one run and taking credit for the win.

Brockport falls to 9-15 overall and 2-8 in the SUNYAC.

The Devils improve to 11-9 and 6-5. They head to Geneseo for a pair of games on Saturday.
