FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Following a 5-4 walk -off win in Game 1, the Fredonia State softball team took Game 2 by a 6-4 score.
Alyssa Piniewski singled home
Allie Wandell as the Devils came back from a 4-3 deficit for the win in the opener.
Game 1
Emily Chelius got the ball rolling with four strong innings in the circle to start the game. She exited the game tied 1-1. Fisher would score three runs in the fifth to take the lead, 4-3.
Fredonia State rallied for a pair of runs in the sixth.
Nicole Kumro singled home Wandell for the first run.
Alyssa Piniewski would score the second run on a wild pitch to make it a one-run game, 4-3, before Piniewski came through in the seventh.
Wandell, Piniewski, and
Maria Caviris each collected two hits. Caviris homered in the second inning for the Devils' first run.
Vanessa Galbraith was credited with the win, working the final inning without allowing a run.
Game 2
Galbraith took the ball in the nightcap, and would go the distance, allowing seven hits, striking out three, and walking none over seven innings for her second win of the day, and third of the season. Two of the four runs allowed were earned.
The Devils pounded out 11 hits, with Kumro,
Megan Guidry,
Evelyn Webster, and
Marisa Sultana each collecting a pair of hits. Guidry added a triple, and Webster, Sultana, and
Victoria Pauwels connected for doubles.
Fisher falls to 10-16, and the Devils improve to 9-19. They travel to Brockport and Geneseo this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC series.
