FREDONIA, N.Y. --- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team got their first win of the season, with a 16-9 victory over Alfred University. This was 
Alanna Herne's first collegiate win as head coach of the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils were lead by six different scorers; 
Erin Woods with six goals and one assist, 
Tessa Brady with three goals, 
Sarah Guariglia with two goals, 
Sydney Buchko with two goals, 
Audrey Brown with two goals and two assists, and 
Makayalla Farino with one goal. 
Julie Culver added one assist in the contest while goaltender, 
Emily Carr, totaled 10 saves in net.
In the first quarter the Blue Devils came out strong, outscoring Alfred 5-2.
They were able to continue their dominance into halftime, scoring four more goals within the second quarter. This brought their lead to 9-4, heading into the break.
The third quarter was controlled on both ends of the field by Fredonia State, as they outscored Alfred 5-0. This gave the Blue devils a 14-4 lead, heading into the final quarter of the game.
The fourth quarter was nerve racking for the Devils, as the Saxons scored four unanswered goals to close the deficit to 15-9.
The Blue Devils were able to hold onto heir lead and close out the game with a final goal, with 2:09 left in the game.
Fredonia state improves to 1-10 overall, and 0-4 in their conference.
Alfred university falls to 2-8 overall, and 0-3 in their conference.
Fredonia State looks to build on their victory in a Saturday matchup against New Paltz, at 1:00 P.M.
