FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-4 game vs. SUNY Canton on Saturday. It was the home opener, and the head coaching debut for
Alanna Herne, who took over the team in January.
The Devils got three goals from
Erin Woods, and a score from
Julie Culver.
The Roos scored the first two goals before Culver put the Devils on the scoreboard. Canton scored the next three before Woods scored her first of the season, making it 5-2.
Canton scored the next five goals to end the half up, 10-2.
Woods opened the second half with goal, making int 10-3. The Devils' final goal would come midway though the third, when Woods made it 14-4.
Canton outshot Fredonia State, 35-17.
Emily Carr made eight saves in goal, while taking the loss for the Devils.
A trio of Canton goalies combined for 11 saves.
Next up, the Devils take on D'Youville on Wednesday.
