FREDONIA, N.Y. --- On Monday night, the Fredonia State women's lacrosse team fell to Grove City College with a final score of 10-5. This was their second home game of the season, and their first game back from the Florida.
The Devils got two goals from
Tessa Brady, one goal from
Makayalla Farino, one goal from
Julie Culver, and
Sydney Buchko finished with a goal and assist.
The Wolverines scored the first goal of the game, extremely quick, giving them an early 1-0 lead.
This did not last long as the Blue Devils answered back with an onslaught of goals, scoring 3 straight. The first goal was scored Brady, with the only assist of the game going to Buchko. Farino was able to grab the second goal, while Culver netted the third.
The Wolverines offense responded with three unanswered goals of their own, before the end of the second quarter.
The Blue Devils went into halftime, down 4-3.
Coming out of halftime, Buchko scored the Devils fourth goal of the game, only 1:17 into the third.
Even with the early second half success, the rest of the game was troublesome for Fredonia State.
Grove City scored six straight unanswered goals to run away with the momentum, as well as the lead. This increase the wolverines lead to 10-4.
The Blue Devils capped their scoring at five, with a goal from Brady late in the game.
Grove City outshot Fredonia State, 23-22.
Emily Carr made eleven saves in goal, while Elyse Kiggins of the Wolverines had ten.
Fredonia State next matchup is against SUNY Oswego, away on Saturday.
