PENSACOLA, FL --- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-5 game vs. Western New England on Thursday. This was their final contest within the spring games, before coming back home.
The Devils got three goals from
Molly McGowan, one goal from
Alexa Ventura, and a goal from
Julie Culver.
The Bears scored the first four goals before McGowan was able to get the Blue Devils onto the scoreboard.
Western New England continue to run up their lead into the third quarter, scoring 10 straight unanswered goals. This gave the Bears a 14-1 lead, with less than half the game remaining.
McGowan was able to stop the Bears run, scoring at the 8:57 mark of the third.
The Bears scored the next three goals to give them a 17-2 lead, with 14 minutes left in the game. However, Fredonia State answered back quickly with an unassisted goal from Culver.
Western New England found one last goal at the 3:34 mark of the fourth quarter. This brought their lead to 18-4.
The Blue Devils capped their scoring at five, with a goal from Ventura with only one second remaining in the game.
Western New England outshot Fredonia State, 35-18.
Emily Carr made seven saves in goal, while
Sydney Booth made two.
A trio of Bears goalies combined for eight saves.
Fredonia State next matchup is against Grove City College, at home on Monday.
