FREDONIA, N.Y. --- The Fredonia State women's basketball team put together a strong second half and went on to defeat the visiting Hiram Terriers, winning, 60-51.
Renee Park led the offense with 19 points, Laurell Brown had 13, and Sarah Seaman had 10 points and three steals.
Alena Wright led the defense with six rebounds and four blocks.
At one point, the Devils trailed by seven, 26-17, early in the second half. They would trail 28-24 at the half, before the young squad began clicking in the third quarter.
The Devils outscored the Terriers 20-5 in the third to take an 11-ponit lead into the fourth. Overall, they had a 22-5 run over the first 11:43 of the second half.
Hiram would not give in, and cut the lead to eight, 51-43, forcing the Devils to take a time out with 2:26 on the clock.
Hiram scored a field goal with 1:29 left to continue their threat.
However, Park nailed a three to stop the momentum. On the next possession Seaman stole the ball and assisted Brown on a full-court pass. Brown was fouled on the layup and converted a three-point play to essentially put the game away, giving the Devils 57-45 lead with inside a minute to play.
Other strong performers for the Devils were Amber Loiuse with five points, five rebounds, and three steals, and Caitlyn Snyder with five points and four assists.
For Hiram, Brooke Hickam had a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jo Janda and Haley Thompson had 11 points each.
The Devils are back home onn Friday vs. William Smith College, with a 5:30 tip off.
