MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Fredonia State men's basketball team dropped its season-opening game, 94-53, at Allegheny College on Tuesday. Aaron Collins led the team with 23 points, and newcomer AJ Knight, a junior transfer, added 13. The duo also led the team with seven rebounds apiece.
The teams opened up tied 5-5 early in the game. The Gators then went on a 25-9 run to take a 30-14 lead midway through the first half. Both teams scored 14 the remainder of the half, leaving Allegheny with a 54-28 advantage.
The Gators ket the pressure on the second frame, outscoring the Devils, 40-25.
The Devils shot 6-of-25 from three-point land and 9-of-15 from the line.
Marquis Tubman added seven points.
Alleghney shot 14-of-34 from long range, and 6-of-13 at the charity stripe. They were led by Luke Barker with 27 and Caden Hinckley with 26 points. Hinckley added 12 rebounds, five steals, and four blocks to lead all players in each category.
The Devils head to the U of R Tournament this weekend, They take on Trinity (Texas) on Friday and a TBD opponent Saturday.
