OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team dropped a 79-60 game to the No. 12 ranked Oswego Lakers on Tuesday. The Devils were paced by AJ Knight with 22 points and eight rebounds.
My'Kell Kaigler added 12 points, Adesoji Tiamiyu had eight points and six boards, and Jacob Hougan had seven rebounds.
The Lakers nailed a pair of threes to open the game with a 6-0 lead and would extend their advantage to 24-4 midway through the first half. By the end of the half, they held a 46-25 lead.
They Devils made a push early in the second. After the Lakers scored on their first couple possessions, Knight would key a 14-2 run as the Devils tried to battle back into the game. Knight would score eight points during that burst.
Fredonia State would outscore the Lakers, 35-33, in the second half. For the game, they held statistical advantages in rebounds (43-39) and free throws (14-18 compared to 11-18 for Oswego). They were slowed by 22 turnovers, while the Lakers committed 11.
Oswego was led by Cartier Bowman with 22 points and 12 rebounds. The Lakers improve to 4-1.
The Devils (0-7/0-2 SUNYAC) return to Dods Hall on Friday as part of a women's/men's doubleheader vs. Cortland.
