Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second-half surge not enough

ERIE, PA. -- After falling behind 44-24 in the first half, the Fredonia State men's basketball team outscored Penn State Behrend 40-35 in the second half, but could not overcome the deficit. Marquis Tubman (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Erasmus Hall) led the Devils with 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Behrend scored the game's first nine points. Following a three by the Devils' Lance Welker (Cambridge Springs, Pa. / Cambridge Springs), the Lions rattled off the next 14 points to take a 23-3 lead as they never looked back.

The Devils made a push midway through the second half. Trailing 60-33, they went on a 16-2 run to pull within thirteen, 62-49, but never got the lead down to single digits.

Behrend used the longball to its advantage, nailing 15 of 28 three pointers. Fredonia State was 7-19 from beyond the arc.

Behrend held a 33-23 edge in rebounds.

The Devils wrap up the semester with a home contest vs. Oswego this Saturday in Dods Hall as part of a women's/men's doubleheader.
