Devils take a SUNYAC setback

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Thr Fredonia State men's basketball team dropped a 63-48 contest to SUNYAC-leading Oswego. Fredonia State was led by Kreem George (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Brooklyn Collegiate) with nine points. A total of nine different Devils made their way into the scoring column. Dydy Bryan (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Boys & Girls) added seven points and four assists.

The Lakers (7-1 overall / 4-0 SUNYAC) were led by Jeremiah Sparks' 16 points and Devin Green had 11.

Oswego jumped out to a 17-0 lead when Fredonia State's Marcus Patterson nailed a three to end the skid and begin a 9-2 run for the Devils.

The Devils cut the lead to 12 after a steal by Bryan who dished to Malik Jemison (Buffalo, N.Y. / Canisius) on a fast break to make it a 34-22 contest with just under two minutes left in the half.

A few possessions later, a Marquis Tubman (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Erasmus Hall) layup cut it to ten, 39-29, but the Devils never cut the lead to single digits.

Following the initial deficit, the Devils were able to outscore the Lakers, 48-46, over the final 34 minutes of the game.

Oswego outrebounded the Devils, 40-34. Both teams shot 34 percent from the floor. The Devils hit on 5-18 threes, while Oswego slumped with 2-22 shooting from long range.

The Devils (0-11 / 0-4) are off until after the Holidays when they play host to Plattsburgh and Potsdam on January 7th and 8th.
