FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 1 ranked Geneseo on Friday. Geneseo score the game's first two goals and hung on for the victory.
Fredonia State received its first goal from
Bryce Witman (Reading, Pa.). Down 2-0 in the second, Witman found the net 7:35 into the period.
Matt Letmanski (Wheaton, Ill. ) and
Ethan Kirbis (Clarence, N.Y.) assisted.Â
The Knights responded with the next two goals to take a 4-1 lead.
Midway through the third,
Brendan Dempsey (Shelby Township, Mich.) cut the lead in half with an assist from
Chandler Judd (Piedmont, S.C).
Geneseo made its final goal with a minute-and-a-half left to play.
Fredonia State evens its record at 4-4-1 overall, and is 2-1-0 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo remains undefeated at 9-0-1 and 5-0-0
The Devils hit the road Saturday with a game at Brockport.Â
